Posted onIs this track ok for stock vehicles. With no diff locks.
Dave Walker
Posted onIt depends on what your stock vehicle is. You couldn't do it in a Commodore. I have a high clearance 4X4 Jeep and I did it easily. I believe that a capable stock 4X4 without lockers wouldn't have any trouble at all. I saw a Subaru outback on the trail and it was able to travel along the Turon river to Sofala without any problems. The only challenge you might face is crossing the Turon river at the root hog track. On February 17/2018 the river was very low and passable by many stock 4WD's without snorkels.

Posted onHi thanks for the reply, I have 4x4 isuzu mux with 29 inch tyres 239mm clerance. Is there a way around river crossing?
Dave Walker
Posted onThere's no way around the river crossing because of a landslide on the bridle track. No need to worry though, your MUX will get accross the river easily unless it's in flood. It's really low at the moment.

Posted onHere's a great YouTube video showing the challenges. If the Toyota FJ Cruiser can do it, so could an MUX I reckon

Posted onSo is the track fully open, or still closed due to landslide?

Posted onDid not got a chance to go. Sorry
Dave Walker
Posted onDaniel3d666, the track is closed at the landslide and will probably never reopen. Most people cross the river at the root hog track junction and continue on to Bathurst along that trail.
